Assistant Deputy Chief of Staff for Facilities / MEDCOM G-9
Colonel Christopher Drum is currently assigned as the MEDCOM’s Assistant Deputy Chief of Staff for Facilities / G-9 based in Falls Church, VA. Prior to this assignment, he was the Commander of the U.S. Army Health Facility Planning Agency (USAHFPA).
COL Drum earned his Bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Engineering from The Johns Hopkins University, a Masters in Healthcare Administration from Baylor University, and a Master’s degree in Strategic Studies from the United States Army War College
COL Drum has served in a variety of units over his 28-year career. Prior strategic-level assignments include: Chief of the Defense Health Agency’s (DHA) Director’s Action Group; Deputy Chief of Facilities and Chief of Capital Strategy Management, DHA Facilities Division; Deputy Commander, USAHFPA in Falls Church, VA; and Special Assistant to the Army Surgeon General. Previous non-command assignments include service as an Ambulance Platoon Leader and Division Cavalry Squadron Medical Platoon Leader in the 1st Cavalry Division; Chief of Logistics for Munson Army Health Center at Fort Leavenworth, KS; Division Medical Planner, 1st Infantry Division (Germany); Battalion Operations Officer (S3) 299th Forward Support Battalion, 1st Infantry Division; Chief of Program Analysis and Evaluation, USAHFPA; XVIII Airborne Corps Medical Logistics Planner, Fort Bragg, NC; Medical Logistics Officer, Multinational Corps-Iraq Surgeon’s Office, OPERATION IRAQI FREEDOM, Baghdad, Iraq; Deputy Project Management Division, USAHFPA; and Pacific Program Manager (Korea), USAHFPA.
He previously commanded C Company, 299th Forward Support Battalion, 1st Infantry Division, and the U.S. Army Health Facility Planning Agency (USAHFPA).
His military education includes the AMEDD Officer Basic and Advanced Courses, Medical Logistics Management Course, the Combined Arms and Services Staff School (CAS3), Intermediate Level Education (ILE), and the Army War College. He completed Army Airborne training, earned the Expert Field Medical Badge and the German Efficiency Badge (Gold), and is authorized to wear the Army Staff Identification Badge.
