Health Facility Planners are Medical Logistics Officers (70K) who are awarded an Additional Skill Identifier (9I) based on their unique skills, experiences and qualifications related to the disciplines of architecture, engineering, business solutions or facilities management.

As Medical Logisticians, 70K9Is must be able to effectively operate in both Facility Planning and Medical Logistics environments. A mix of assignments and experiences will provide a well-rounded and successful Health Facility Planner.

Active Duty Officers
  • Recommended for senior Captains who have completed Company Command and Captains Career Course.
  • Must attend the Medical Logistics Officer Kilo Course
  • 1 year of experience in Health Facilities Planning plus Master’s Degree: Health Facilities Planning, architecture, engineering, construction, logistics management, or health care admin with courses related to health facilities planning.

OR

  • 5 years cumulative experience  in positions in Health Facilities Planning.
  • Approved DA 4187 submission signed by the 70K9I Consultant

 

Reserve / Active Guard Reserve Officers
  • Recommended for senior Captains who have completed Company Command and Captains Career Course.
  • Must attend the Medical Logistics Officer Kilo Course
  • 1 year of experience mobilized in a Health Facilities Planning assignment plus a Master’s Degree: Health Facilities Planning, architecture, engineering, construction, logistics management or health care admin with courses related to health facilities planning.

OR

  • 8 years cumulative experience in positions in Health Facilities Planning.
  • Approved DA 4187 submission signed by the 70K9I Consultant

70K9I Career Path - Image

Long Term Health Education and Training (LTHET)

70K9I’s may apply for any of the Long Term Health Education and Training program which is available to both the 70B and 70K, including the Baylor Program and the USAMMA Course  (while retaining both the 70K designation and 9I identifier).

The 70K9I may also apply for Masters Degree and/or PH.D at a school of choice in:

  • Architecture
  • Engineering
  • Construction Management
  • Urban Planning

The 70K9I Consultant may also work with requests for special fields of study that enhance the medical construction knowledge base.

Health Facility Planner Internship

The program is a 1 year internship open to qualifying 70B and 70K conducted at a major medical construction site where the student is exposed to Health Facility Program Office (HFPgmO) and Corps of Engineer Resident Engineer (RE) operations, installation activities and rotations through clinical and administrative elements of the health care facility.
